September always means National Drive Electric week, and we love celebrating Electric Vehicles and charging along with the rest of the country. Throughout the week of September 12th through September 20th more than 100,000 people are expected to attend the more than 180 events planned in over 175 US cities, 41 states and four countries, to celebrate plug-in electric vehicles (EVs) from as a part of National Drive Electric Week.

National Drive Electric Week, organized nationally by Sierra Club, Plug In America and Electric Auto Association, is now in its fifth year. This year more than 3,000 plug-in vehicles are registered to be a part of the diverse array of events where enthusiastic EV drivers can talk up their cars to the EV-curious. There is a wide range of events across the country featuring plug-in electric cars of several different makes and models, National Drive Electric Week highlights the increasing availability, affordability, reliability and convenience of electric cars.

Lone Star Clean Fuels Alliance, AustinEV, Nissan, individuals and other groups are excited to sponsor and host the Austin event for this year’s National Drive Electric Week. On Saturday, September 19 the Austin National Drive Electric Week event at Northwest Recreation Center (2913 Northland Dr) from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The 2015 Austin event is a great opportunity see how fun and practical EV ownership really is and talk to actual EV owners about their experience and drive, or ride, in their vehicles. Currently more than 30 EVs are expected including Nissan Leaf, BMW i3, and Tesla models. Nissan and its all-electric LEAF has served as the event’s exclusive automotive sponsor since 2013. Roundrock Nissan will have the all–electric LEAF available for ride n drive. Presentations from Austin Energy, Smart Charge Residential and Native Solar will be featured, along with informational booths from the Lone Star Clean Fuels Alliance, Smartcharge Residential, Austin Energy and others.
