From Austin EcoNetwork

During Earth Month, readers of Austin EcoNetwork are encouraged to participate in the Walk The Talk Carbon Challenge.

The Walk the Talk Challenge is about environmental leaders and enthusiasts demonstrating what it looks like to take actions that have a positive impact on the environment. While we all talk about environmental change, how accountable are we willing to be for our personal choices and the impact they have on the environment? This is not about blaming or shaming or what we “should” do. This is about putting our actions where our words are and expanding our capacity to be a living demonstration of sustainability.

Participation is simple. When you register your team, you will receive an email to forward on to your organization. Whether you stop at an email or knock on cubicles is up to you. But you agree to keep track of how many people are participating.

This challenge is brought to you through a partnership between EcoCampaigns and 2020 or BUST! Eco Campaigns are a series of community engagement initiatives that accelerate the fulfillment of Austin’s future as a thriving and resilient city. Their objective is to produce unprecedented, measurable results that continue to build momentum in energy, water, waste and transportation solutions. 2020 or BUST! is a citizen’s engagement initiative organized to make ending the climate crisis possible. The mission of 2020 or Bust! is to bridge the 8-10 Gt gap between our predicted annual emissions in 2020 and where we need to be to get us on track for a sustainable future.

Acknowledgment of your results will be announced on Earth Day. Prizes are in the works, but the real prize is knowing your action is where your mouth is.
